COLON FORMULA - Vata version

This Ayurvedic formula is specifically designed for chronic constipation caused by Vata imbalance—characterized by dry, hard stools, irregular elimination, and difficulty passing stool. It gently supports the colon by softening waste, lubricating the bowels, and stimulating healthy movement without cramping or irritation.

Haritaki (Terminalia chebula) – Premier Ayurvedic herb for relieving constipation and regulating bowel movements. Helps cleanse and rejuvenate the colon, especially for Vata-type issues.

Dry Castor Oil (Eranda Taila) – Lubricates the colon and softens dry waste, helping to ease elimination without discomfort. Used traditionally in chronic constipation cases.

Bibhitaki (Terminalia bellirica) – Supports tissue tone and aids elimination; part of Triphala, known to nourish and detoxify the digestive system.

Amalaki (Emblica officinalis) – Antioxidant-rich fruit that soothes inflammation and supports colon lining health.

Cascara Sagrada (Rhamnus purshiana) – Gentle but effective western herb to promote bowel movement without causing cramping.

Licorice (Glycyrrhiza glabra) – Moistens and soothes the colon, reducing irritation and dryness in the intestinal tract.

Ginger (Zingiber officinale) – Stimulates digestion, warms the system, and improves absorption of the formula’s other herbs.

Vidanga (Embelia ribes) – Traditional Ayurvedic herb for reducing parasites and cleansing the GI tract.

Powder:

• Start with 1 teaspoon in 1/2 cup of hot water before bed
• Take more or less as needed for 1–2 bowel movements daily. A second dose may be taken after breakfast if needed
• Mix with ghee for added lubrication or fruit juice to improve taste. May also be taken in capsules if preferred
