UTERINE ANTI-INFLAMMATORY [aka PCOS] TEA
UTERINE ANTI-INFLAMMATORY [aka PCOS] TEA
For PCOS, Uterine & Pelvic Inflammation, Difficult Cycles, Cramping & Heavy Menstrual Flow
Uterine Anti-Inflammatory Tea – AKA PCOS Tea is a targeted herbal formula developed primarily for women with PCOS and similar menstrual patterns involving uterine or pelvic inflammation, hormonal and androgen imbalance, irregular or difficult cycles, cramping, pelvic discomfort, and heavier menstrual flow. It may also be appropriate when similar symptoms occur with endometriosis, adenomyosis, uterine fibroids, painful menstruation, or other inflammatory menstrual patterns.
100% Organic ingredients: Spearmint Leaf, White Peony Root, Marjoram, Raspberry Leaf, Cramp Bark, Yarrow, Cinnamon Bark
HerbMan note: This formula was developed primarily for PCOS-type menstrual patterns where hormonal or androgen imbalance occurs together with uterine or pelvic inflammation, irregular cycles, cramping, discomfort, or heavier flow. It may also be useful for similar inflammatory menstrual patterns even when PCOS is not the diagnosis.
About Formula
Uterine Anti-Inflammatory Tea – AKA PCOS Tea is designed for women whose menstrual pattern includes more than simple PMS or occasional cramping. It focuses on the combination of uterine and pelvic inflammation, irregular or difficult cycles, hormonal or androgen imbalance, cramping, pelvic discomfort, and heavier menstrual flow.
PCOS can present differently from one woman to another. Some women primarily experience irregular cycles, elevated androgens, acne, unwanted hair growth, weight or blood-sugar concerns, while others experience difficult menstruation with pelvic discomfort, cramping, inflammation, or heavier flow. This formula was created to address several of these overlapping patterns rather than focusing on only one symptom.
Although formulated primarily for PCOS, this tea is not limited to women diagnosed with PCOS. Similar symptoms may also occur with endometriosis, adenomyosis, uterine fibroids, inflammatory menstrual patterns, or other conditions involving uterine or pelvic irritation, difficult cycles, cramping, and heavier bleeding.
According to traditional Ayurvedic principles, painful and irregular menstrual patterns may involve aggravated vata (movement, tension, spasm, irregularity), excess pitta (heat and inflammatory tendency), and disturbances affecting artava dhatu (female reproductive tissue). This formula combines cooling, relaxing, toning, and regulating herbs to support the reproductive system without making the blend strongly heating or overly stimulating.
This tea is especially useful for:
– PCOS-type menstrual patterns
– Irregular or difficult menstrual cycles
– Uterine or pelvic inflammation
– Pelvic discomfort and cramping
– Painful menstruation
– Heavier menstrual flow
– Hormonal and androgen imbalance
– Inflamed or irritated menstrual patterns
– Similar symptoms associated with endometriosis, adenomyosis, or uterine fibroids
This formula is broader than a simple menstrual pain tea. It supports the hormonal and androgen side of PCOS while also addressing the uterine, inflammatory, cramping, and heavier-flow patterns many women experience.
About Herbs
Spearmint Leaf – The principal PCOS-focused herb in the formula. Spearmint is traditionally cooling and is especially useful when the pattern includes androgen-related hormonal imbalance. It has been studied in women with PCOS and hirsutism for its effect on free testosterone. From an Ayurvedic perspective, Spearmint helps calm excess pitta (heat and inflammatory tendency) while providing gentle digestive and cooling support.
White Peony Root – A major reproductive and menstrual herb traditionally used for irregular menstruation, cramping, pelvic tension, and hormonal patterns. It helps bridge the hormonal and inflammatory sides of the formula. Ayurvedically, its cooling and nourishing qualities help calm pitta (heat and inflammatory tendency) and vata (movement, tension, and spasm) while supporting artava dhatu (female reproductive tissue).
Marjoram – Included specifically to strengthen the PCOS direction of the formula. Marjoram has a long history of traditional use for menstrual and digestive concerns, and it has also been studied specifically in women with PCOS. In a small randomized pilot study, women drank marjoram tea twice daily for one month, and researchers reported improvements in insulin sensitivity and reductions in the adrenal androgen DHEA-S. More recent pilot research has also studied marjoram combined with cinnamon over several months in women with PCOS. These studies are preliminary, but they support the traditional use of marjoram as part of a broader PCOS-support formula. From an Ayurvedic perspective, its aromatic qualities help support agni (digestive fire), reduce stagnation, and support metabolism without making this formula strongly heating.
Raspberry Leaf – A traditional uterine tonic used to support normal uterine tone and menstrual function. It provides structural and reproductive support without dominating the formula. Ayurvedically, Raspberry Leaf is gently toning and supportive to artava dhatu (female reproductive tissue).
Cramp Bark – Traditionally used when menstruation includes gripping, tightening, or spasmodic discomfort. It helps relax uterine smooth-muscle tension and provides direct support for painful or difficult cycles. From an Ayurvedic perspective, Cramp Bark is especially useful for calming aggravated vata (movement, tension, and spasm) in the pelvic region.
Yarrow – A traditional menstrual herb used to support healthy menstrual flow and pelvic circulation. Its mild astringent action is especially useful when inflammatory menstrual patterns are accompanied by heavier flow. It is intentionally kept lower than in our Healthy Flow Tea so this formula remains centered on PCOS and uterine inflammation rather than bleeding alone.
Cinnamon Bark – Used in a small amount to round out the flavor and provide gentle digestive and metabolic support. It is deliberately kept at only 5% so the formula does not become strongly warming or overly stimulating.
Together, these herbs create a targeted reproductive formula for PCOS-type menstrual patterns involving hormonal or androgen imbalance, uterine and pelvic inflammation, irregular cycles, cramping, discomfort, and heavier menstrual flow.
How to Take
Infusion Instructions:
1. Place 2–3 teaspoons of loose tea in a cup, teapot, or covered container
2. Add approximately 12–16 oz of freshly boiled water
3. Cover and steep for 15–20 minutes or longer for a stronger infusion
4. Strain if desired
5. Drink warm or at room temperature
Suggested use: Drink 1–3 cups daily. For PCOS-type patterns, this tea is intended for regular use throughout the month rather than only during menstruation.
Allow time: This is not intended as a fast-acting tea. Long-standing hormonal, metabolic, and menstrual patterns usually develop over time, so herbal support should also be approached consistently. Use regularly for several months before judging the overall pattern rather than expecting major changes after only a few days or a few cups.
Women using the tea mainly for uterine or menstrual discomfort may notice the soothing and antispasmodic herbs sooner, while the broader PCOS and hormonal support is intended for consistent longer-term use.
Fresh preparation: Prepare fresh tea daily for best quality.
PCOS and long-standing menstrual patterns generally require consistent support rather than occasional use. Diet, digestion, metabolism, stress, activity, and individual hormonal patterns should also be considered.
Tips & Notes
General diet support: Women with PCOS-type patterns often benefit from a simple whole-food diet with regular meals, adequate protein, vegetables, fiber-rich foods, and appropriate healthy fats. Limit excessive refined sugar, sweetened drinks, refined flour, highly processed foods, and frequent snacking on sweets.
If the menstrual pattern tends to feel hot, irritated, or excessively heavy, notice whether very spicy foods, excessive alcohol, or other strongly heating foods make those symptoms worse and adjust accordingly.
Estrogenic foods: PCOS is not simply a condition of excess estrogen, so there is no general need to eliminate every food described as estrogenic. Individual dietary needs vary according to digestion, metabolism, menstrual pattern, and constitution.
Choosing the right women's tea:
Uterine Anti-Inflammatory Tea – AKA PCOS Tea is formulated primarily for PCOS-type patterns involving uterine or pelvic inflammation, irregular or difficult cycles, hormonal or androgen imbalance, cramping, discomfort, and possibly heavier flow.
Female Balance Tea is more focused on broad ongoing hormonal balance.
Healthy Flow Tea is more specifically formulated when excessive menstrual bleeding is the main concern.
PMS Tea is more specifically formulated for premenstrual symptoms and painful menstruation.
Fibroid Tea is the more condition-specific formula when uterine fibroids themselves are the primary concern.
